Outreach
My commitment to science education and public outreach is deeply rooted in my belief that knowledge should be accessible to all. Through various initiatives, I aim to inspire curiosity and foster a greater understanding of the universe among diverse audiences. Below are some of the key outreach activities and projects I am involved in.
Podcast: Visión Cósmica
I am the creator and co-host of the Spanish-language astronomy podcast Visión Cósmica. This podcast aims to bring the wonders of the cosmos to Spanish-speaking audiences around the world, offering discussions on the latest discoveries, interviews with scientists, and explanations of fundamental concepts in astronomy.
Selected Outreach Activities
- Astronomy on Tap (St. Louis & Trenton, NJ): I founded the Astronomy on Tap satellite branches in St. Louis and Trenton, where I organize events that bring astronomy talks to informal settings, like bars and cafes, making science accessible and engaging for the public.
- Tower Grove Park Astronomy Festival: As a proposer and co-organizer, I helped create the first-ever astronomy festival in Tower Grove Park, St. Louis. The event featured telescope viewings, talks, and activities for all ages, introducing attendees to the wonders of the night sky.
- Outreach in Spanish at Harvard College Observatory: I co-organized the first-ever outreach event in Spanish at the Harvard College Observatory, creating an inclusive space for Spanish-speaking communities to engage with astronomy.
- NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador: As a volunteer Solar System Ambassador, I participate in various educational events, sharing NASA’s latest missions and discoveries with the public, particularly in Spanish-speaking communities.
- CosmoQuest: I was involved with the CosmoQuest project as a Research Scientist at the Astronomical Society of the Pacific while living in St. Louis. My role included mentoring community scientists in planetary science projects like crater counting and analysis.
Through these initiatives and more, I aim to continue spreading the joy of discovery and the importance of science to communities both local and global.
