Andrés A. Plazas Malagón

I am a Colombian-American astrophysicist with a deep passion for exploring the mysteries of the universe through the lens of observational cosmology. My research focuses on weak gravitational lensing, systematic errors in astronomical observations, and the development of next-generation astronomical instruments. My journey in the field of astrophysics has taken me from the vibrant city of Bogotá, Colombia, to leading research institutions in the United States, where I have had the privilege of contributing to some of the most ambitious cosmological surveys, such as the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST).

Currently, I serve as the Rubin Operations Scientist in the Rubin Community Science Team at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford University, and the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology. I am also an Asociate at the Department of Physics at Harvard University, a Visiting Research Scientist in the Cosmology Group at Boston University, and a Visiting Research Scholar at the Department of Physics at Washington University in St. Louis.

Beyond my research, I am deeply committed to science education and outreach. I am the founder of the Astronomy on Tap satellite branches in St. Louis and Trenton (NJ), the creator and co-host of the astronomy podcast "Visión Cósmica," and an active participant in various science outreach events in both English and Spanish.

I invite you to explore my website to learn more about my research, publications, and outreach activities. Whether you are a fellow researcher, student, or someone with a keen interest in the cosmos, I hope you find this site both informative and inspiring.
